Fr. Robert Cavalier, Pastor
Growing up across the river from New Orleans, in Gretna and Marrero, with my parents and three sisters, I went to Catholic Schools and in the sixth grade became open to the call of priesthood. I went to St. Joseph Seminary (St. Ben’s), seven miles from Abita Springs, run by the Benedictines, for high school and junior college and then to Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans for Philosophy and Theology.
After serving as a transitional deacon at St. Bernadette in Houma and at St. Patrick’s in Port Sulphur, I was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of New Orleans by Archbishop Hannan. That was in June of 1972. After assignments in Thibodaux and Terrytown, I was asked to serve as the Field Education Director at Notre Dame Seminary. From there I was in two more parishes, Gentilly and Metairie, before assuming my first pastorate at St. Charles Borromeo in Destrehan (1983-90). I was then appointed Director of Vocations for the Archdiocese for 4 ½ years. I also served two other pastorates, St. Jerome in Kenner and Sacred Heart in Lacombe.
In 2000, I was granted a leave to discern a possible call to the contemplative life with the Trappists in South Carolina. When I returned to the diocese, I was assigned to Our Lady of the Lake until August of 2003 when I came to St. Jane’s and St. Michael’s.
Involvements over the years has been with the Ecumenical Institute, Cursillo, Teens Encounter Christ, Marriage Encounter, Engaged Encounter, Spiritual Direction Internship, Radio Maria, the Neo-catechumenal Way, and Priests for Life. I collaborated with Kitty Cleveland in recording the “Miracle of Love Rosary”.
Personal interests include helping friends, travel, photography, hiking, bike riding, music (listening, singing, and playing guitar), reading and golf.
My great desire is for the depth and beauty of a lived faith through our Catholic way be experienced more and more both by those within the Church and those open to the fullness of the truth of Jesus Christ. Our parish family continues to inspire this desire and experience.
Grace and peace,

Fr. Robert
FR. JEFFERY JAMBON

Fr. Jeffery Jambon, is originally from New Orleans, LA. He is the second son, third child, of parishioners Jim and Vickie Jambon. Fr. Jeffery has an older brother, an older sister and two younger brothers. All except the last sibling live on the Northshore. He is a graduate of Archbishop Shaw High School on the Westbank. It is in high school that he developed a strong devotion to adoration of the Lord and daily Mass. His pilgrimage to Medjugorje had a very clear impact on his vocation.
Fr. Jeffery entered an order in 1989, completing his novitiate in 1991 in Ireland and went on to study classical humanities in Salamanca, Spain. He then earned a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy in 1994 at the Pontifical Regina Apostolorum College in Rome. Studying Theology in Rome again from 1998 to 2001, with pauses in Germany and Poland for the apostolate's sake, he was ordained to the priesthood on December 22, 2001 at St. Mary Major's Basilica in Rome. His apoltolic ministry has taken him to Chile, Sacramento, California, Wisconson, and the Mayan Mission's Parish with its 7 chapels. Fr. Jeffery has been on Helping Hand medical missions to Ghana, Africa -twice, accompanying a team of volunteer doctors and nurses who gave free medical care, including surgeries, to local people.
As can probably be guessed from his travels and missionary involvement, Fr. Jeffery has developed as a linguist in Spanish, Latin, Italian, German and Polish. His fluency in Spanish led him to be assigned to our Parish on the Northshore. He assignment is both to St. Jane/St. Michael and to Hispanic Ministry on the Northshore. He is very much needed to assist both here at St. Jane's and in Bogalusa at Annunciation where they have a Mass in Spanish once a month. Fr. Jeffery will also offer some help to St. Margaret Mary in Slidell.
